The Commercial department deals with revenue realization on account of electricity / water supplied to consumers of NDMC. Various activities involved in this process are installation & testing of meters, taking meter readings from the premises of various consumers, uploading the consumption data in the computer software for the bill generation, distribution of bills, revenue connection, identification of defaulters, regular pursuance for realization outstanding payments, connection & disconnection on non-payment / possession/ vacation of premises, repair & testing of meters at site as well as in the laboratory, enforcement actions to check theft, overloading, misuse, unauthorized extension of electricity in the premises of consumers, assessment of bills on account of provisional billing.
There are about 70,000 electricity and 30,000 water consumers, which are being serviced by the Commercial Department of NDMC since Sept’2012.These consumersare being billed through Oracle Utility Software known as Customer Care and Billing (CC&B) system.
The department comprises of three wings:

i) Engineering Wing, headed by a Superintendant Engineer, which looks after the release of New Connections,installation/checking of meters, meter reading and their entry in the computer system.

ii) Billing/ Computer Sectionheaded byJoint Directorand looks after processing of the data, generation and printing of electricity/water Bills. And;

iii) Rates Branchlooks after the delivery of bills, collection of revenue and accounting of the same.
Bills are delivered to consumers physically besides sending SMS and e-mails to those who have opted for e-billing  and submitted their e-mail address and mobile numbers. The different modes of bill paymentavailable to consumers are DD/Cash/Cheque/RTGS/NEFT/Net Banking/Debit Card/Credit Card.
