The Horticulture Department of NDMC which is responsible for maintenance of this urban oasis strives to make New Delhi greener, more beautiful and provide healthy pollution free environment to the distinguished residents and visitors. NDMC maintains public greens of approximately 1250 acre area within its jurisdiction which comprise of Gardens, Colony Parks, Roadside Trees, Roundabouts, School greens, Greens of NDMC office, markets and residential complexes, open green spaces etc.  Being the capital of the country, it is necessary to properly maintain the greens in the best of shape.  In the year April 2007 CPWD Colony Parks were transferred to NDMC on ‘as is where is’ basis and the Horticulture Department started basic maintenance works.
