Welfare Department was established with a view to manage the Welfare institutions like Community Centers / Halls and Barat Ghars and to promote Welfare activities to meet the needs of residents of NDMC area such as financial assistance to person with disability, old aged, widows and infirm, Booking of Barat Ghars /Community centres & parks, to promote schemes related to Welfare measure.

In addition to this, the Welfare department implements various schemes related to employees welfare through schemes like Hitkari Nidhi Yojna(Payment of Rupees 50000/- as financial assistance to the spouse of deceased employee/RMR/serving TMR, Payment of Rs 50000/- each time for marriage of daughter or son of an employee/RMR{ restricted to maximum two times}, payment of an amount Rs 3500/- to Rs 33000/- for reimbursement of education fees on the basis of course of study up to 02 children of an employee/RMR and Payment of up to Rs 50000/- for prolong illness to the RMR), Liberalized Medical Health Scheme, Compensation under Workmen Compensation Act, Financial assistance to the children in case of death of parents in case either of them working on regular basis, contractual basis or daily wages employees of NDMC during Pandemic COVID-19, Adventure Trekking Tours, Annual Sports Meet, Retirement function in every month & Tournaments for the employees and Holiday Homes etc.


NDMC is running a large number of welfare projects for its citizens and for those employed in NDMC as a part of the discretionary functions of the Council which can broadly be put under following main categories: -


WELFARE

1.

A scheme of holiday Home is being run with the facilities so far provided at Nainital and Manali, Munnar, Goa, Kufri, Panchgani, Corbett, Mussoorie at a nominal of Rs. 25/- per day.

2.

To encourage adventure sports, NDMC Scouts and Guides Rovers Crew has been formed which undertakes trekking expedition in different parts of the country.

3.

A scheme of Janta Personnel Accidental Insurance Scheme is being run in which a sum of Rs. 1,00,000/- is being paid to the dependent of deceased employee in case of death by accident of municipal employee. In case of accident of the employee and in case of becoming partial handicap in accident an amount is also paid.

4.

On the last day of every month a function is organised for the benefit of retiring employees, in which all the payments due to him/her is given and a momento, certificate and other gifts are also conferred.

5.

In order to encourage the officials towards better work, a scheme of meritorious award identifying the best in the respective departments along with cash incentive is provided.

6.

11 Porta cabin gyms and 02 multipurposes gym are run by welfare department for its employees and NDMC area residents.

7.

Priority on booking are done in favour of NDMC employees for the booking of Barat Ghars in the NDMC area for the marriage of their own children and concession of 50% is given on the rental fee.

8.

New Medical Health Scheme- NDMC has introduced a new medical health scheme for regular employees/retired and their dependents on the pattern of CGHS. All the NDMC employees and theire dependents can avail the medical facilities under this scheme without any upfront payment to the hospitals.
