Working Women Hostels


To provide a respectable living accommodation to working girls NDPPSKS runs working Girls Hostels. There is provision for Single-rooms, Double-rooms and Dormitories. Board facilities are also available. All meals- breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner are served at nominal charges.

     To meet the rising demand for safe, secure, comfortable shelter of the working women/girls coming to Delhi from all parts of the country, NDPPSKS has provided for three such Hostels namely 'SWATI' at Mandir Marg and 'INDIRA NIKETAN' at Laxmi Bai Nagar, AAKANKSHA at Bhagwan Dass Lane, New Delhi. To honour pressing public demand for more such hostels, it has been decided to open another working Girls Hostel at Sarojini Nagar.

The relevant details are as under :-

1.

Admission forms, procedure and Duration

Forms are Available between 9.30 a.m. and 2.00 p.m. everyday at the respective hostel’s Reception Counter on the payment of Rs. 20/-. The eligibility criteria are specified in the form along with the necessary documents required and are also available on www.ndmc.gov.in. Admission is provided on first-cum-first served basis and on the basis of interview. Preference will be given to those working in Central/State Government

2.

Charges

i) Single Seater Rs. 2653/-, II seater charges Rs. 1,486/- per month (Only Akansha Hostel)

ii)  3 & 4 seater charges Rs. 1,364/- and Rs. 1327/-. per month

iii)  8 seater charges Rs. 1,104/- per month(Only Indira Niketan)

iv)  10 & 12 seater charges Rs. 1030/- per month. (Only Swati Hostel)

v)  Security deposit Rs. 6,000/- (refundable)

vi)  Admission Fee Rs. 20/-

vii)  Registration Fee Rs. 20/-

* 2% hike of licence fee annually.

Responsibilities of inmates

1.

The inmates shall be responsible for the proper upkeep of the furniture and fitting etc. Any damage to these including the glass panes or electric fittings is to be made good by the inmates concerned. No inmate shall remove any furniture or other fittings from the allotted places.

2.

Hostel charges as fixed by the governing body will be payable by each inmate and these are subject to revision unilaterally as and when considered necessary without any prior notice. The schedule of rates in force at the time of allotment is available in the hostel office.

3.

The rooms will be liable to inspection by the Hostel Authorities daily, at any time. These will also be open for inspection by the members of the Governing Body.

4.

Daily attendance will be taken by the Hostel Warden/Assistant. Warden, at a specific time, fixed by her. An inmate returning to hostel after that time must report to the Warden/Assistant. Warden.

5.

Inmates are expected to be in the hostel premises by 10.00 p.m. each day. Hostel gate will close at 10.00 p.m. every day.

6.

Return to hostel after the gate has been closed will be treated as default and will be viewed with seriousness. In exceptional cases only the gate will be opened for an inmate returning after a scheduled time, with the permission of the hostel warden. Such inmate will sign a late night register kept with the hostel security person. They must give the time of returning with reasons for the same.

7.

No inmate will be allowed to go out of the hostel after 10.00 p.m. without the permission of the hostel warden. Such inmate will also sign the late night register indicating reasons for leaving the hostel at the late hour.

8.

Inmates proposing to spend a night or some days out shall inform the hostel warden before hand, giving the telephone number and address, if anywhere they could be contacted in case of emergency.

9.

No inmate will be allowed to make or receive calls on the office telephone without special permission from the Warden/Assistant. Warden of the hostel which will be only in case of emergency and on cash payment.

10.

Catering arrangement will be facilitated.

11.

Any case of illness shall be reported immediately to the hostel authorities, if necessary, the residents will be shifted to the hospital. All expenses incurred on any medical assistance (including transport charges, if any) provided to any resident will be born by the resident herself.

12.

No responsibility will be taken by the Hostel Management for loss of cash or valuables or any other articles belonging to any inmate. They will themselves be responsible for the safety of their cash, valuables and other belongings.

13.

Visiting hours for the guests will be from 6.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. daily and on Sunday and Gazetted Holidays from 9.00 a.m. to 12.00 noon in the lounge. No male visitors will be allowed to go to dormitories of the hall or the common room etc.

14.

Inmates are not allowed to keep pets in the premises of the hostel.

15.

No inmate shall be allowed to use any kind of intoxicants/drugs within the premises. No intoxicant/liquor or drugs of any kind will be allowed to be brought in the hostel premises.

16.

Gambling within the premises is strictly prohibited.

17.

No electric/electronics gadget like TV, VCR, and Geysers will be allowed to be used.

18.

Extra charges for the use of Personnel Computer, Heater immersion rod, iron-press of not more than 1 K.W. will be realised as fixed by governing body from time to time.

19.

Inmates intending to leave the hostel for good must give 14 days notice to be counted form the date such notice is received in the hostel office or pay full charges for the period in lieu of the notice. All charges must be paid in full as per prescribed schedule before termination of stay. Any inmate who becomes unemployed will give the intimation in writing to the hostel warden immediately and such unemployed resident will be allowed to continue to stay in the hostel for a maximum period of 2 months only on payment of all the charges as per the prescribed schedule of rates.

20.

Admission of the resident is valid for 4 years only. One year extension may be granted on the recommendation of the Governing Body/Chairperson in very special cases on double licence fees for a maximum period of one year. However, total period of stay in all the 3 hostels shall not exceed five year.

21.

An inmate is a mere licence and has no exclusive possession of the room or the seat allotted to her. The management and the control for the hostel premises are with the Governing Body of the hostels. An inmate is bound to move to any other room when called upon to do so by the warden or other competent authority of the hostel.

22.

The inmate have to leave the hostel immediately on cancellation of licence to stay due to default in payment of hostel charge or on disciplinary grounds e.g. drunkenness and other unseemly behaviour and also on account of breach of any of the condition set forth in these rules. The decision of the governing body of NDPPSKS Working Women Hostels on the question whether there has been any such breach or not shall be final and binding on the inmates.

23.

Freedom Fighters Home (Baba Kharak Singh Marg)

NDPPSKS manages a Home for the freedom fighters at the Baba Kharak Singh Marg, New Delhi under the scheme run by Ministry of Home Affairs. The relevant details are as under :-

i)

Accommodation

6 residential flats comprising 3 rooms in each.

ii)

Admission

On authentication by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

iii)

Facilities

Free provision of breakfast, lunch, dinner and other essential facilities. Recreation room ( T.V. with cable, newspaper and magazines)

iv)

Charges

Deduction of Rs. 100/- per month from their monthly pension being paid by Ministry of Home Affairs.
