N.D.M.C. is providing preventive, promotional
and curative services to all the residents of NDMC area. The prime function
of municipality i.e. environmental sanitation and primary health care is
being provided to the utmost satisfaction of the community. A network of
public health services and medical wing is always busy to provide its
services to maintain high level of environmental sanitation and helpful
environment of the area. For health promotion specific protection early

The NDMC has succeeded in controlling all the deceases.
|

Control of TB and mainly Directly Observe Therapy short course has been a great success and coverage of 100% has been achieved
which is highest in the country.

The medical facilities provided by the NDMC are of exemplary category
and the NDMC runs a 150 bedded Charak
Palika Hospital,
50 bedded Palika Maternity hospital and 37 dispensaries within an area of
42.76 sq. Kms and has a high density of doctor population ration. The NDMC
also provides free medicines in these dispensaries pertaining to 3 systems
of medicine which include Allopathy, Homeopathy and Ayurvedic.

The NDMC proposes to open an HIV counseling and Testing Centre and
launching an HIV Control programme by the next financial year. Being the
hub of the country and having almost 10-15 lacs migratory population, the
need for the HIV control programme has been felt since long.

NDMC also proposes to strengthen its indigenous system
of medicines by opening a Panchkarma unit at Polyclinic.

Public Health
|
NDMC is regularly taking preventive
measures in coordination with other departments and has successfully controlled
all the communicable diseases in its area. For the last 10 years no
infectious diseases is in epidemic form in this area. Tuberculosis the main
disaster disease has become under control by introduction of Directly Observed Therapy and a cure rate of 100% has been achieved in this area.
Water Borne diseases are well under
control and no death due to Cholera has been reported in NDMC area. For the
last 10 years. Malaria, Dengue and other mosquito borne diseases have never
raised their head in epidemic form and are well under control through a
network of anti-malarial activities. Very recently, NDMC is going to launch
HIV prevention and control programme in its area by opening one HIV
counseling and testing center. Being the hub of the country and having
almost 10-15 lacs floating population per day in addition to its static
population of 3 lacs, the need for HIV control programme has been felt.
NDMC has a network of dispensaries providing indigenous system of medicines
and treatment and in near future Panchkarma Unit has already been planned
to be opened.
