Do's & Don’ts for
Using Portable Water

1.
|
Citizens should not install on line booster pumps/
appliances.
|
|
2.
|
Citizens should replace old, corroded, rusted or leaking
service lines linked to NDMC's main line.
|
|
3.
|
Service pipes should be laid away from GT's and sewer
lines to aprotected void contamination of water.
|
|
4.
|
The over head tanks should be in proper usable condition.
|
|
5.
|
The underground/ overhead tanks should have proper ball
cocks/valves to aprotected void wastage of water through overflow.
|
|
6.
|
Underground tanks/overhead tanks should be cleaned
periodically.
|
|
7.
|
Filtered water should not be used for :-
|
|
|
|
a)
|
Washing of animals or vehicles or for any trade,
manufacture or business or fountains, swimming pools etc.
|
|
b)
|
Construction/ repair work of any kind.
|
|
c)
|
Gardening/ farming/ irrigation or washing streets etc.
|
|
|
8.
|
Citizens should switch to smaller cistern of 4 to 10
liters capacity. These are easily available in the market.
|
|
9.
|
The leaking bib cocks/ stop cocks should be replaced to
aprotected void wastage of water.
|
|
10.
|
Citizens should desist from taking a shower. It consumes
three times more water than a bucket - and- mug bath.
|
|
11.
|
Any leakages/ damages of filtered water supply lines
should be reported to NDMC Service Centre/ Control Room.
|
|
12.
|
In case of any contamination of water, same should be
immediately brought to the knowledge of NDMC authorities.
|
|
Water is Precious. Conserve
Every Drop of Water by Adopting following ways :-
|
|
1.
|
Turn the tap off while brushing teeth-save 5 to 10 liters.
|
|
2.
|
Use wash clothes and turn off the tap while washing
hand-save 9 to 15 liters.
|
|
3.
|
Fill mug and turn off the tap while shaving -save 10 to 15
liters.
|
|
4.
|
While taking bath rinse, turn off the tap, soap and rinse
again-save 50 to 70 liters.
|
|
5.
|
Please repair leakage loose, and save 400 to 3000 liters
water per day.
